KMET hosted the fifth National Social Franchising Steering Committee meeting that attracted the participation of Population Services International (PSI) ,Gold Star Kenya, Family Health Options Kenya(F.H.O.K),MarieStopes,Kenya (MSK),Child and Family Wellness(CFW) .
The six organizations met at the KMET Health Complex, the organization’s Headquarters at Tom Mboya in Kisumu County. The Association of Social Franchising for Health (ASFH) is expected to unite six leading Social Franchise Networks into one consolidated institutional body.
“The Association (ASFH) will take the lead in achieving rapid expansion of the delivery of health care services and promote access to healthy seeking behaviors within the marginalized communities” KMET, Executive Director Monica Oguttu said.
The National Social Franchising Steering Committee that draws the representation of all stakeholders from the six organization’s has organized an official launch of the Association of Social Franchising for Health (ASFH) later within the year, the consortium of social franchises will focus on the association’s primary goals of improving Access, Quality, Equity and Cost effectiveness of all sexual reproductive health services within its social franchises.
KMET Health Communications and Marketing, Programs Coordinator, Mr. Amos Onderi said ,”We intend to reach out to Private Providers to Identify, Bridge and Share best practices among the facilities franchised within the confines of the various social franchises”
Branding of Franchise Facilities
Elsewhere, KMET has currently branded 35 facilites and expects to fully brand a total of 50 facilities by end of September within the Huduma Poa Health Network within Nyanza, Western and the Rift Valley counties. ‘’This is good positioning for our facility and a mark of quality too’’, a newly recruited provider into Huduma Poa Health Network stated.
KMET as the franchisor of the Huduma Poa Health Network expects its network members to offer quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services including Family Planning, HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC), Tuberculosis, Cervical Cancer Screening.
